ROTARY SHAFT SEALS

Rotary Shaft Seals & Oil Seals for Industrial Equipment

Rotary shaft seals – or, most commonly, oil seals  - keep in position a lubricant product between two basically cylindrical elements. They guarantee the sealing for different types of lubricant products, such as grease, oil and lubricating fluids. Some types of oil seals also provide dry operating. Oil seals can be also designed for  pneumatic sealing (the most common reach 10 bar). They are mainly applied both in axial rotation motions applications and in axial sliding applications. Oil seals, or rotary shaft seals, are made up of: 1) a metal structure, the body of the seal, whose function is to guarantee the stability and the resistance of the oil seal; 2) an elastomer lip  (NBR, VITON, EPDM; etc.) available different profiles, including single lip, double lip (most sold items), and high pressure profile 3) an energizing-lip-spring which increases the grip to the shaft (some oil seals may also have two springs) and to the rod. For technical specification and for all other oil seals profiles, please visit the web catalogue.

MATERIALS:

NBR (nitrile rubber): -good wear resistance -for use with mineral oil and grease.
FKM (fluorinated rubber): -good wear resistance -low gas permeability -for use with mineral oil and grease -for use with
aggressive fluids (acids, alkaline solutions, etc.) -for applications with high temperatures -for high peripheral speeds -for
synthetic oil and grease.
PTFE (polytetrafluorethylene): -high resistance to ozone, atmospheric agents and suitable for atmosphere aging -low
coefficient of friction -high chemical resistance.
