Rotary Shaft Seals / Oil Seals

Rotary Shaft Seals/ Oil Seals
Rotary shaft seals (aka oil seals) are commonly low pressure seals designed to seal between a rotating shaft and body to prevent the loss of lubricating fluids and prevent the ingress of dirt and other contaminates. Besides o’rings, rotary shaft seals are some of the most common type of seals to be found on machinery. Often used as bearing seals, they can also be found in applications such as crank shaft seal on engines, output shaft seal on gearboxes and propeller shaft seal on boats. Some are designed to seal on the OD for applications with a rotating housing. And some designs can accommodate high pressures; up to 9.8bar (142psi) depending on seal type.
Sealing Australia stocks a wide range of rotary shaft seals and V-rings in various styles and compounds.

Rotary Profiles
Rotary shaft seals are available in many variations of profile (styles), the most common being the TC style. Most profiles feature a sealing lip pre-energised by a helical garter spring and all are available with or without a secondary non-spring loaded dust lip. Others have two spring loaded lips to seal between two mediums and some have no spring at all. There are profiles for automotive applications such as the bearing seals for trailers featuring Ford or Holden hubs. There’s profiles for high temperature and high pressure applications. Types for directional, bi-directional and non-directional rotation. There’s reinforced and non-reinforced structures. There are profiles that are completely enclosed with rubber and others with exposed metal on the periphery. There are so many different styles of rotary shaft seals out there, we cannot list them all. So if you cannot find the profile you’re after in the table below, give us a call as we can still give assistance.
